At Green Man Char, we’re always looking for ways to turn waste into something wonderful for your garden. This season, we’re excited to introduce five new products that bring together the power of biochar and wood vinegar with nutrient-rich organics: Fish and Chips, Charcoal Chicken, Salt and Vinegar, Surf and Turf and our native plant hero Outback Snack.
Fish and Chips
Think of this one as an ocean-inspired feast for your plants. Fish and Chips combines marine-based nutrition with the long-lasting benefits of biochar. The fish content delivers nitrogen, phosphorus, and essential trace minerals, while the biochar locks them in place, making sure your soil microbes stay busy, and your plants stay happy.

Salt and Vinegar
Salt and Vinegar is our mineral-rich blend designed to restore balance and vitality to tired soils. With calcium, magnesium, and trace elements paired with wood vinegar, it strengthens plant resilience, promotes better root development, and builds lasting soil fertility. The wood vinegar component helps unlock nutrients and makes them more plant-available, giving your soil a fresh burst of energy.
It’s especially useful in areas where soils are depleted or imbalanced.
Surf and Turf
Ultimate Lawn Care Blend
Bring your turf to life with Surf and Turf, a premium biochar-based lawn treatment crafted for strong, healthy growth. This unique blend combines fine biochar, fish fertiliser, and seaweed solution to create the perfect balance of nutrients and soil conditioning for vibrant, long-lasting lawns.
Ideal for use as a top-dress after aeration, prior to seeding, or when laying instant turf, Surf and Turf improves soil health, boosts nutrient uptake, and enhances water retention – giving your lawn the complete care it deserves.

Outback Snack
Outback Snack is specially crafted to give Australian native plants the gentle care they need. Packed with biochar and a perfectly balanced fertiliser, it improves soil health, boosts water retention, and supports steady, healthy growth without overwhelming sensitive natives.
Made right here in Australia from recycled organic waste, Outback Snack helps you nurture your garden while contributing to a truly circular economy.
Perfect for native gardens, landscaping, and revegetation projects, Outback Snack keeps nutrients cycling and carbon locked away—so your soil gets healthier, and your natives grow stronger every season.
How to use (surf and Turf)
Apply at a rate of 1 litre per m². Can be incorporated into the soil before seeding or applied directly to established turf.
How to use (Fish and Chips, Charcoal Chicken and Outback Snack)
General gardens & veggies: 1 L per m², mixed through the top 10–20 cm of soil.
Top dressing: Same rate, sprinkled directly.
Tree planting: Mix 1 L into backfill soil and water in well.
Seasonal care: Reapply every six weeks through the growing season for best results.
And remember—once biochar is in the soil, it’s there for good.
How to use (Salt and Vinegar)
Dilute at 1:100 with water (e.g. 100 mL fertiliser per 10 L water).
Apply every 2–4 weeks through the growing season.
For Lawns & Turf
Use a slightly lighter mix: 1:150 with water (e.g. 60 mL fertiliser per 9 L watering can).
Apply evenly across the lawn.
How to Apply
Foliar spray: Apply directly onto leaves until they are lightly coated.
Soil drench: Water in around the base of plants or across turf.
Quick Guide for a 9L Watering Can
Gardens / Veggies / Fruit trees: Add 90 mL of Salt and Vinegar to a full 9L can of water.
Lawns & Turf: Add 60 mL of Salt and Vinegar to a full 9L can of water.
Tip: Always shake well before use. For best results, apply in the cooler part of the day (morning or evening).
